Chapter 17

Schedules and goals

Run prompts on a schedule, set goals the agent works toward, and find what is waiting on you.

Scheduled prompts

A schedule is a session prompt that starts itself on a clock, with the agent, model and reasoning level you choose.

  1. Create it in its workspace

Open Scheduled tasks in the right-hand toolbar and choose New scheduled task; the composer turns into a schedule for the current workspace. Schedules are saved per workspace, in <workspace>/.mirasim/schedules.json.

  2. Write the prompt and pick a frequency

Write the prompt as you would type it. Pick a preset (Daily 9:00, Weekdays 9:00, Mondays 9:00, Hourly, Every 30 min) or write a 5-field cron expression in local time. The minimum interval is 10 minutes.

  3. Watch it, pause it, or run it now

Each schedule shows its next run and run history, with a link into the session each run started. You can pause it without deleting it, or use Run now to trigger it immediately.

Goals

Type /goal in the composer followed by a completion condition. The agent keeps working until it judges the goal met.

If several checks in a row flag the same issue, use Convert to Goal to turn it into an orchestrated goal in the Goal room. There an agent splits the work into tasks, dispatches them, and comes back to you only when a decision is needed.

The Goal room shows the master conversation on one side and, on the other, the spec it produced: the outcome, acceptance criteria, scope, boundaries, non-goals, decisions and assumptions, and open questions. The spec is read-only; change the goal in the master conversation.

The phases a goal moves through
Aligning
The orchestrator turns your conversation into a testable outcome and an execution map.
Review → Confirm start
Once the outcome, evidence and boundaries are set, you confirm a specific revision. Agent work starts only after that.
Running
Tasks run against the published map, with a mission graph and board, live status per task, and the critical path marked.
Needs you
Only decisions that change scope, safety, permissions, or an irreversible outcome pause progress. Each pending decision shows how many workers it is blocking.
Acceptance → Complete
Criteria are checked against evidence: each node carries its artifact, its verification and the worker record.

Open any task node to see the artifact it produced, whether it was verified, its dependencies and dependents, and the work record of the agent that did it.

What needs you

  • Sessions that stopped to ask you are collected under Waiting on you at the top of the sidebar.
  • When the window is not in front, a system notification fires when a session finishes, fails, stalls, or waits for you. Click it to open that session.
  • In Collaborate, For you collects every @ and reply addressed to you, including items handed to you.
  • The Items tab's Mine and Collaborating views list the open items you own or help with, grouped by status.
